Thyroxine Tablets available with the branding “2 CRINE-50” are an artificial version of the thyroid hormone that helps the body to supplement the natural hormones if the production of hormones is low in the thyroid gland. Its administration is mainly used in the management of hypothyroidism or deficiency in the secretion of thyroid hormones. 

Thyroxine Tablets have thyroxine which is a synthetic thyroid hormone, which is almost similar to thyroxine produced in our body by the thyroid gland. They are used to supply the body with the missing thyroid hormone or to reduce the pressure on the thyroid gland. Can this medicine be taken by children? 

It can be given to children (newborns and infants) with inborn thyroid hormone deficiency. To achieve normal mental and physical development, the initial recommended dosage is 10-15 mcg per kg/day for the first 3 months. After that doctor would adjust the dose individually according to the thyroid hormone level and TSH values measured in blood. 

Is this medicine good for weight loss?  

No, it is not prescribed for weight loss as it is specifically used in the treatment of hypothyroidism.
